Book Review: Ripples by Diana LeGere

Every decision we make in life has a ripple effect. This ripple effect impacts ourselves and others. The ripples of life is the center of Diana LeGere’s book Ripples: A Memoir of Reflection (ISBN:978-0997912623). With each story, LeGere explores moments of her life and the ripples they created. This memoir is a perfect read for anyone who questions their own life journey, as LeGere gives advice on how to accept life as a journey.

Each chapter is a reflective story from LeGere’s life. She explores the themes of sharing your gifts and talents, discovering your authentic self, stepping outside of your comfort zone, relaxing and just letting go, trusting God, forgiveness, accepting God’s timing, learning from your experiences, giving up control, and seizing new opportunities. At the close of each story, LeGere includes a Bible verse, prayer, reflective questions, and journaling space. The reflective questions and journaling space truly allows the reader to reflect on their own life and get to know herself.

There were three sections that spoke to me on a spiritual level: “Be authentic,” “There is nothing God would put into your heart He would not bring to pass,” and “What we have is today.” For someone who has been yearning for self-reflection and self-discovery, LeGere’s words and lessons were inspirational. I am in a period of transition, but I need to be true to myself as I relinquish control and let God guide me. With that being said, I need to seize new opportunities as my heart leads me by God’s direction. I gained a greater connection with myself and with God through working my way through LeGere’s memoir, and I believe that anyone striving to better understand themselves and/or striving to better understand life’s journey will enjoy this book.

Abide In The King

I have been reading the book When God Writes Your Life Story by Eric and Leslie Ludy and my soul has been yearning for this message. I realized I have been calling out to God as if He is a servant, asking for things I need, rather than asking Him to use me in His plan. It is time for me to reevaluate my life and to “clear the fog of sinful residue.” I must abide in my King so answers to questions in my life become clear.

Bible Verse Poetry – Create in Me a Clean Heart

I’m so invigorated by the passion flowing within me as I set aside time every day to read my Bible and let God speak to me as I write. I am working on a new project. I am writing poetry inspired by Bible verses. I have written 12 poems so far, with a goal of having 50 written by my birthday in March 2020.

What is your favorite Bible verse(s)? Share in the comment section and I will work it into my project!

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10

Dusted in ash,

My heart often lacks

What I need to be a worthy servant.

Create in me a clean heart,

Dust off the parts

     In my soul

So that better I can know

     You.

Create in me a renewed spirit

Color me wonderfully vivid

So that I can praise

     Your name.

Create in me a pure soul,

So I may honor You

     Wherever I go

That I can live a life that shows

     Your light.
